The tavern scene with Catelyn and Tyrion is what made me love her character. She is in a situation of complete disavantage but manages, with her charisma and majesty, to completely turn tables and arrest Tyrion. She didn’t promise money, she didn’t haggle or beg, she simply comanded men that technically weren’t even her own to begin with. She was so strong in that scene… that was the exact point when the character completely won me over.
I think Catelyn was a far better mother than Cersei. Catelyn left her children because she thought it would benefit them in the long run, whereas Cersei used hers a means to become more powerful.
I’d never heard the word misogynist until I saw this fandom.
I’m not condoning the fact that Ned sired a son outside of wedlock, but I think because of the context, where nearly every man has sired a bastard, Catelyn should be able to see that Ned is an admirable man for being able to accept Jon into his household, despite it sullying his name somewhat, and be grateful that Ned loves her and isn’t abusive, like many of the relationships in the book are seen to be.
